Our Vision Statement: 
A state where uniquely diverse communities have accessible, inclusive, and equitable rights to operate and serve effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.

Our Mission Statement:
Serving to empower uniquely diverse communities by building partnerships, securing funding, running programs, offering integrative services, and providing resources. 

To accomplish our mission, we intentionally operate to:

  1. Build Partnerships: Connect to local and state agencies and organizations.
  2. Secure Funding: Search for grants and donations to carry out our programs.
  3. Run Programs: Develop programs that are designed to meet the needs of our communities.
  4. Offer Integrative Services: Employ an ecological model and dynamic systems approach that embraces all areas of the community, starting with individuals.
  5. Provide Resources: Stand up for equitable access to sustainable skills, strategies, and means to accomplish personal, professional, communal, and cultural goals, seeing this through past conception.

Partnerships

Need: Racial, Cultural, Linguistic competent BIPOC behavioral health providers in RI.


Our work to meet this unmet need:

  • We offer racial, cultural, and linguistic competent exposure, training, supervision, and mentorship.
  • We have partnered with SabaterLAB as co-directors for their Clinical Training and Service Internship Program.
  • We are a directory-listed Practicum Training Collaborative (PTC) clinical site for Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program’s students at William James College.
  • We are a SkillsRI Employer Partner, Vendor, and Employer Site for PrepareRI Summer Internship Program.
  • We are Mentoring Partners for the Learning Through Internship (LTI) Program at The Met High School.
  • We have hosted interns from William James College, Community College of Rhode Island, and Rhode Island College/SkillsRI AmeriCorps Program. 
  • We have hosted interns from The Met High School, Pilgrim High School, Exeter-West Greenwich Regional High School, Cranston High School East, Mount Pleasant High School, Juanita Sanchez High School, 360 High School, E-Cubed Academy, Blackstone Academy, Central Falls High School, Shea High School, and North Kingston High School.

TNeed: Resources and opportunities for BIPOC business community, members, and workers in The Black Block Cultural District in Downtown Pawtucket.


Our work to meet this unmet need:

  • We served as founding members of the initial Black Block Community Resource Committee.
  • We collaborate on grassroot efforts and transformational leadership.
  • We serve as founding board directors of The Black Block Community Foundation.
  • We, alongside community partners, members, and organizations, work, collaborate, and assist in the establishment of The Black Block Cultural District in Downtown Pawtucket.


Our Impact:

Year 2022

  • Advanced steps towards the establishment of nonprofit organization in the community.
  • Collaborated in weekly community organizing meetings.
  • Created co-empowerment opportunities towards effective, efficient, and sustainable community results.
  • Advanced the operating and serving capacity of our community. 


Year 2023

  • Assisted in the inception of The Black Block Community Foundation. 
  • Served as the principal author of the organization’s articles of incorporation, and its bylaws. 
  • Completed all documentation required for the IRS 501c3 tax exemption status obtained in an unprecedented time of eight days after application submission.
  • Helped in grant writing tasks resulting in funding secured.


Year 2024

  • As community partner assist in leading coordinated efforts to serve and collaborate with members of the community to establish The Black Block Cultural District and advocate and secure for programs for the community.

+ We are assisting to:

Increase access to local, municipal, and state resources for our community.

Establish partnerships with other local and state levels organizations and elected officials.

Implement a grassroot governance structure within a just transition system with, for, and by our community members.

Programs

Need: Educational efforts, professional goals, and sustainable skills towards upward mobility for BIPOC business community, members, and workers in The Black Block Cultural District and Providence County.

Our work to meet this unmet need:

  • We offer free of charge Spanish language classes for individuals, small business owners, and nonprofit organizations.
  • We offer free of charge Grant Writing Class in scheduled sessions, coaching/consultation, and proposal application.
  • We offer training opportunities, volunteers-and-interns-led supported activities, community engagement projects to further reduce stigma around mental health and help seeking.
  • We have partnered with SkillsRI, and collaborated with Core Collaboratives LLC on projects related to workforce development goals.
  • We provide technical assistance for small businesses and created new jobs.
  • We are helping to generate more opportunities to upskill our community members with access to advanced essential mental health strategies, wellbeing self-care, and workforce/real jobs skills.

Our Impact:
Year 2022

  • 2 BIPOC small business owners and 1 nonprofit board of directors completed Spanish classes.
  • The Heart Tree completed our grant writing class and secured a state level grant as a result.

Year 2023

  • We provided technical assistance to small nonprofit organizations to obtain 501(c)(3) IRS tax exempt status.

  • We recruited, hired, trained, and retained new positions
  • Total 3 #new positions.
  • We provided technical assistance to small businesses locally, within Providence County, including Black owned small businesses. Included are grant writing classes, and basic computer training.

Year 2024

  • We recruited, hired, trained, and retained new positions.
  • Total 2 #new positions.
  • Technical Assistance and coaching to Early Childhood Providers and other minority entrepreneurs. Included are grant writing classes, basic computer training, and early childhood curriculum approved by Center of Early Learning Professionals.
  • Total 35 #providers
